Olfa Thera, Opus Bio win $100K Awards in QB3 mentoring Session
Olfa Thera and Opus Bio — spinoffs from UCSF and UC Berkeley respectively — won $100K awards from the QB3 mentoring program in a competitive pitch session. “A vote of confidence” says Olfa; “This award will help us enormously,” says Opus. The support enables both companies to conduct key proof-of-concept experiments to attract seed investment. The program takes applications quarterly: the next deadline is February 16.
new Workforce development program: Break Into Biotech
Unlock opportunities for underserved students with Break Into Biotech! QB3’s newest program bridges financial gaps and experience barriers. Over five weeks of paid training, UC Berkeley undergrads gain essential lab skills. Then, they transition into academic research and may secure a 6-month paid internship with Bakar Labs tenants. Applications have closed for this cycle, but will reopen in fall 2024.
